SPO is launching a brand-new Catholic Men’s Residence at the University of Minnesota - a place where men rise to the call of brotherhood, faith in Christ comes alive, and leadership is forged in every day life.
This is your shot to live out Proverbs 27:17 - iron sharpened by iron. Maybe this is your time to be sharpened - with support in true brotherhood and conviction in your calling to follow after Christ.

VISION
The UMN Men’s Residence is a Catholic living community for incoming freshmen and sophomore men who want to start their adult lives with strong foundations of faith, brotherhood, and purpose.
Rooted in the life of the Church and connected to St. Lawrence Newman Center, the residence provides structure, support, and spiritual grounding during the pivotal early years after high school.
Whether a young man is attending the University of Minnesota, pursuing the trades, or beginning full-time work, this community equips him to grow in maturity, build authentic friendships, and encounter Christ through daily life in a vibrant, mission-driven environment.
ABOUT
LOCATION
Located on the corner of SE 5th Street and 10th Avenue in Dinkytown, the residence places men right in the heart of campus life - just steps from the St. Lawrence Newman Center and a quick 15-minute walk to campus. It’s a prime spot for brotherhood to deepen, faith to come alive, and the sacraments to fuel every part of life.
Faith Formation
All residents will take part in our weekly men’s formation program, True North - a space for growth, accountability, and authentic brotherhood. Through mentorship from upperclassmen and SPO missionaries, residents will be strengthened in virtue and equipped to lead with faith and conviction.
Meal Plan
Residents will share 17 weekly meals through an in-house meal plan, creating space for consistency, conversation, and communion. Regular household dinners will anchor their week with moments to laugh, pray, and grow together as brothers.
INVESTMENT
Room cost is $900 per month, with an additional cost for board. Spots are limited, and space in the house will fill fast. Live with brothers who challenge you, grow your faith, and live the mission with conviction.

The cost of room is $900 per month, which covers housing, utilities, Wi-Fi, and participation in residence programming and formation opportunities. Meals are not included in this rate and will be an additional expense.

The residence is open primarily to incoming college freshmen, though men attending nearby universities, online programs, or trade schools are also welcome to apply.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all 20 spots are filled! The application process includes the completion of an online form and an interview with SPO staff.
